Laser liposuction is the latest method of getting rid of unwanted fat from the body. This procedure got FDA approval in 2006 and is performed in the doctors office under local anesthetic. This new procedure reduces the downtime often associated with traditional liposuction. It is virtually pain-free and so can be an alternative to invasive plastic surgeries. If you have tried to remove pockets of unwanted fat on your body through exercise and diet without success, then laser lipo may be the best solution for you. But how does it work?

How does it work?

Laser lipo is a procedure which uses heat of the laser to dissolve fats and tighten tissues in a given part of the body. The area to be treated will be cleansed and marked by the doctor. The doctor will then administer a local anesthetic to the targeted areas. A laser filled tube will be inserted directly into pockets of fat. The tube will be moved back and forth to activate the laser. The laser fires heat which causes fats to melt. Once the laser liquefies the fat, it is easier to remove. The large majority of the fat is either suctioned or squeezed out of the affected area. The body absorbs some small amounts of the dissolved fats and excretes them naturally around 24 hours after the surgery. The whole surgery can take less than an hour depending on the body part being treated. The procedure is done under local anesthetic without any sutures.

Who qualifies for laser liposuction?

If you are not overweight but have fatty deposits on your back, chin, abdomen or thighs which you have been unable to eliminate with exercise and diet, you should consider going for laser liposuction. This procedure can be effective on resistant fatty areas. Laser liposuction procedure can relieve and tone small areas.
If you gain weight, you may lose the results of your treatment so leading a healthy lifestyle is very important. Laser liposuction is very safe and since it does not require general anesthesia, the procedure will be completed after a relatively short time. It delivers immediate results and you’ll continue to notice improvement over time. Unlike traditional liposuction that is characterized by swelling, bleeding and destruction of the tissue, laser liposuction offers more effective results with less internal tissue destruction and little bruising. Make sure you find a doctor who is qualified and experienced in performing such a procedure.
